Getting Started

As we previously stated, developing an effective estate plan may seem daunting at first, but it's a logical process that you can get through fairly easy. To help you through this process, we've developed what we call the "Five Steps to Effective Estate Planning."

The "Five Steps to Effective Estate Planning" include (1) Knowing Where You are Today, (2) Identifying Your Beneficiaries, (3) Setting Your Goals and Objectives, (4) Developing a Plan of Action, and (5) Putting Your Plan into Effect.

In this My Plan^SM section, we'll walk you though each of these five steps - one step at a time. While you are free to jump around from one step to another, we suggest that you complete each of the five steps in order. There is a logical progression at work here, so jumping ahead may cause you to make certain decisions when you're not quite ready to do so. Completing the five steps in order will help to insure that you have all the needed information in front of you when important decisions have to be made.

When you have completed the first step, you may proceed directly to the second step, then the third, etc. until all five steps have been completed. At that time, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that your family and other loved ones will be protected in the event of your death or incapacity.
