Last Will and Testament

A will or testament is a legal document in which an individual names one or more individuals or entities to manage his estate and provides for the transfer of his property upon death.

Historically, a "will" referred to a legal document that disposed of an individual's real property while a "testament" disposed of an individual's personal property.

Today, the distinction is seldom observed, as the disposition of real property and personal property is now provided under a single document; thus giving rise to the popular title of "Last Will and Testament."
